Doctors can be chosen from a providers list. You will be given a list of providers in your area, and you will have the option to choose your doctor.

Yes, Louisiana Healthcare Connections does offer a dental plan for the family. Members under the age of 21 receive dental screenings from their Primary Care Provider. Members over the age of 21 may receive up to two dental visits per calendar year.

The program covers the following:

  • Regular exams and cleanings: 2 dental visits per member per calendar This includes up to two cleanings.
  • X-rays: X-rays associated with your two covered dental visits will be covered.
  • Adult denture services: Those who need dentures may be covered through MCNA Dental.
  • Fillings and extractions: Your doctor must request permission for surgeries and complex procedures. These procedures will only be covered if they fall on the two covered dental visits per year.

What is the Maximum Gross Income to Qualify for Louisiana Healthcare Connections?

In order to choose Louisiana Healthcare Connections as your health plan, you must first enroll in Medicaid.

To qualify for Medicaid, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Aged 19-64 years old
  • Doesn’t already qualify for Medicare or Medicaid
  • Have a household income that is less than 138% of the federal poverty level
  • Meet citizenship requirements

You may also qualify if you are pregnant, or you receive Supplement Security Income.

For 2018, the income requirements for Medicaid include:

  • 1 household member: $322 weekly; $645 bi-weekly; $1,397 monthly; $16,764 yearly
  • 2 household members: $437 weekly; $874 bi-weekly; $1,893 monthly; $22,716 yearly
  • 3 household members: $552 weekly; $1,103 bi-weekly; $2,390 monthly; $28,680 yearly
  • 4 household members: $666 weekly; $1,332 bi-weekly; $2,887 monthly; $36,644 yearly
  • 5 household members: $781 weekly; $1,562 bi-weekly; $3,384 monthly; $40,608 yearly
  • 6 household members: $896 weekly; $1,791 bi-weekly; $3,881 monthly; $46,572 yearly
